Sustainable development meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. When basic needs have been met, human development is primarily about being more, not having more. Integrates goal for: conservation, social justice, cultural diversity, appropriate development, democracy, promotes personal and social change, develops civic values and skills, empowers all citizens to be leaders for a sustainable future. Sustainability is : the dream of living well, a dynamic balance with others and the environment, the harmony among differences. The concept of sustainability encompasses a whole new project for civilisation. We must join together to bring forth a sustainable global society founded on: respect for nature, universal human rights, economic justice, a culture of peace. Through the readings this week, i have learnt and come to an understanding that the worlds resources are not inexhaustible and without careful planning and education of current and future generations.
