The wall was incredibly successful and featured an incredibly complex stage show. Concept albums and rock operas became prominent in the late 60s. As prog. rock became more ambitious, the idea of technical mastery increased. Miles davis began noticing rock solos and noticing their similarity to jazz. He found it amazing that audiences were willing to sit and listen to it. He decided he wanted to play to rock sized audiences. Him and a group of other musicians went into the studio and recorded a bunch of improvisations and later pieced them together to create the album bitches brew. It was very popular (not compared to other rock albums but compared to other jazz albums).
