Document Summary
Time line of earth"s history from its origin about 4. 55 billion years ago to present. Timescale that describes the entire history of the earth, in terms of rock formation/ crust of the earth but also with regards to life on earth. Divided into eons, which are subdivided into many eras. First three eons are collectively known as the precambrian, while the more resent eon is known as the phanerozoic eon, which is then divided into eras. The three areas that make up the phanerozoic: paleozoic, mesozoic, and cenozoic (oldest to newest) Within each era, we have epochs (we are part of the holocene epoch- only about 3 million years old) Life has been on the planet for about 3. 5 billion year, however mankind only just appeared in the last few million years. All changes that have occurred on earth, none really occur as fast as when mankind if present (aka mankind has a large impact)
