Ways of Knowing  Authority o Knowing based on expert sources, documentation, and books o Quality of the information is based on the quality of the source o Relies on trust to build knowledge o Every research study uses the method of authority to build a case for their hypotheses/research question  Rational Method o Relies on past knowledge plus logic o Used when direct observation is dangerous, impractical or – especially – unethical
