Document Summary

Chys 3p47 lecture #4 friday, september 30th, 2016. Exercise: everyday examples of positive and negative reinforcement. A child cries at night after being put to bed and the parents come in to comfort her. The child now cries more often at bedtime: positive reinforcement as the child knows that regardless of her crying, her parents will come eventually, negative reinforcement for the parents as they got rid of an aversive stimulus. When their child cries at bedtime, the parents go into her room to her down. She settles down when they do this, so they go in to her room more often when she cries: positive reinforcement. Peter slows down to the speed limit when he sees a police car up ahead on the side of the road: negative reinforcement, positive reinforcement. A child sees a bag of candy in the store.
