Remember genotype and phenotype (genotype- dna sequence, responsible for certain characteristics, phenotype- physical presentation of the genotype, description of actual characteristics ex: height is actual phenotype, we can see it) Genotype effects (passive- parents contribute by passing on genotype, contribute to environment (ex: house climate, books), active- seeking out environment, evocative- emotions you give off) 2 areas of research of professor are: prenatal drug research and perfectionism. Developmental phycology has been influenced by nature vs. nurture debate. The basic question is does what you"re born with genetically influence how you develop more than the environment that you"re born into? . This ties into our question about wayne gretzsky and mozart- how much has to do with genetic inheritance and how much has to do with environment and the way they were nurtured. Keep in mind the genotype is expressed through the phenotype so we"re really talking about what triggers a specific phenotype.
