Document Summary

How can we conceptualize children and youth outside the ability/disability paradigm: accommodations in university. Accommodations are supports that are put in place to assist persons with disabilities to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. In no way do they change the level of difficulty of the material or the skill being measured or assessed. A teacher in the elementary/secondary school system can decide on and implement accommodations for students on his/her own. In university, accommodations need to go through the student development centre: accommodations in university. Because this is not my goal, i need to accommodate this student by providing him/her with a large- font format of the test script so he/she can read it, and i can measure what i really want to measure. Not testing the content because they cannot see it; instead you"re testing the students" ability to see: accommodations in university.
