Context: observing lesson and activity during carpet time. Had this opportunity while the children were being gathered and settled down before they started singing their october songs, and going through their morning rituals. The teacher remained calm and used techniques to get the children to settle down when they were initially all hyped up from transitioning from classroom station activities to quiet carpet time. When the children first come to the carpet, some of them sit cross legged on the carpeted floor but a few who want to can use special bouncy/squishy seats. A few children fought over them but i noticed that one child in particular had one today, who. I"ve seen had one of the seats before, but i didn"t notice the trend until today. On my first day, the classroom teacher informed me of some of the important information about individual children that i would have to be aware of, mostly allergies, but also exceptionalities.
