Suicide accounts for 24% of all deaths among individuals ages 15-24. The mortality rate due to suicide among men is four times the rate among women. Almost one half (49%) of those who feel they have suffered from depression or anxiety have never gone to see a doctor about this problem. Once depression is recognized, help can make a difference for 80% of people who are affected, allowing them to get back to their regular activities. When you get depressed you withdraw and loose friends. Response to painful physical stimuli is moderated in the brain by serotonin. Connected with pain when you feel pain this is active. When serotonin is off, you can feel depressed and feel pain. Five (or more) of the following symptoms have been present during the same 2- week period and represent a change from previous functioning; Depressed mood most of the day, nearly every day.
