Holland images of children foreclose on questions of blame, responsibility, and culpability that arise when adults are pictured. Child soldiers are worthy of rescue because they have no responsibility for their actions. Komona is an iconic child soldier who makes a journey out of childhood on her own. Journey is possible because of practical self determination, an evolving capacity that develops in relation to lived experience. Related to the concept of agency have the ability to make a difference and change the social world. Related to the rational choice theory each person is capable of making rational choices to obtain what they need in their social world.
