Assembly= ekklesia in the pnyx: discussed the large issues of the state, eg. Whether to go to war - or not: personal impact= if war- then sent themselves, sons or nephews to war, but athens voted to go to war regularly. Agora: in ruins today: originally area of tombs; then houses until c. 600 bc, with democracy: becomes a public and political space: with specific buildings and artifacts relating to the democracy.
