Zeus is worried that aphrodite has power over him and this is a threat to his rule. Zeus has been at the mercy of aphrodite"s powers as he has mated with countess mortals as most other gods have as well (except the virgin gods and hera). Aphrodite has been the cause of this infatuation with humans however, she has never brought herself down to mortal level by mating with them. This makes aphrodite in some aspects more powerful than zeus, because he cannot resist her powers. Zeus does not like the fact that aphrodite has made him and other gods weak and blames her for creating a lust for humans. This brings humans up to a god-like level, and this is something that zeus has always tried to prevent from happening. Aphrodite threatens the natural order of things that zeus has created, where humans are meant to worship gods from afar.
