The hero: heros - a person who is usually noble, well-born, and capable of great words and deeds (as in homer, a greek hero will always have special social or religious status as a warrior, ruler or seer. A heros story can vary: greek myths were presented orally and visually. there is no one correct version. In contrast a logos = utterance which can be potentially supported by other evidence. The main types of hero story: legend - emphasis on a single character, saga - emphasis on an event, either can be real of ction. Legend/saga: harry potter: - an individual life story. (legend, part of the struggle against voldemort and the death eaters. (saga) Divine myth v. s: supernatural beings - the gods, cosmology - (learning about the heavens, cosmogony - (decent of the gods, a type of proto-science . Hero myth - creates a type of proto-history : special people and events in the past, hercules, trojan war.
