Royal tombs at ur: date to 2600bc: some 1800 burials excavated, 16 were royal : from wealth of artifacts, wooley called these 16 death pits - number of skeletons. Royal tombs of ur: 2600bc: sensational discovery in 1922, immense welt in 16 of the tombs - gold, silver and semi-precious stones, resources traded from afghanistan, india and egypt = long distance trade. Royal standard of ur: peace side: king seated banqueting with nobles, musicians, citizens bring animals an goods to city = taxes, battle followed by celebrating = city uni ed; joyous. Third dynasty of ur: with the collapse of akkad back to sumer, new empire of ur: 2100-2000 b. c, king ur-nammu: made a law code and ziggurat.
