Emperor hadrian: ad 126: he was an amateur, architect, mathematician and. Originally built in augustan period by marcus agrippa burned down. It was built by hadrian, his gift to the city. Technology for concrete dome is new to hadrian, probably didn"t exist in marcus. Hadrian wrote marcus agrippa because he was humble enough not to take credit for the rebuild. It looked just like a classical temple from the front. Inside is beautiful, huge, whole in the ceiling sun roof. Interior is the rotunda sweeping circular room with vaulted dome, no columns or pillars to obstruct the view. Shows modern design built with concrete- at this point they have been using concrete for 300-350 years. Oculus sun roof is intentionally left open to the sky to that the gods can peek in. It also provides a lot of light, the suns spot can help you tell time and ceilings.
