As ideas and norms change, so too do the forms of hegemonic masculinity that are represented as normal . What is rugged in the past, may now be considered hot . A world view or activity that is in opposition to and challenges the dominant world view (p. 206) Anytime we challenge or present alternatives to mainstream values. Pointing out how normal representations don"t have to be normal. Hegemonic ideas get challenged and updated all the time. Sometimes hegemony is challenge by acts of resistance. Just because you"re not used to seeing something, doesn"t mean it"s not natural.
