Computer science is the study of computer hardware, algorithms and how they fit into information systems. Computer science majors use programmable machines called computers by providing them with algorithms: well-defined sequences of steps to produce an outcome. Traditionally, computers consist of five main hardware components: For a machine to be called a computer, it must be programmable. The stored program concept, the notion that computers should have memory in which to store instructions that can be modified by a program itself is essential to modern computing! An information system is a hardware/software system that processes data into organized information for retrieval. Data structures are collections of data that organized in a useful format (pictures etc. ) Computation had a history even before electronic computers. The earliest known algorithm on paper was from euclid. The first programmer was ada augusta as she wrote programs for the analytical engine, which was the mechanized forerunner of modern computers.
