Students are like blank slates" when they are born. They have no prior ideas, values, mental structures, assumpions. Every ime you teach something new it is as if students have never thought before, and have nothing in their minds. Students should work alone, and listen silently all day: learning is independent. Teaching is like pouring data into people"s heads. Learning is like having something put into your head: learning is passive. As a teacher, you must help it new informaion into that structure.
