Engl 1f95 literature in english: forms, themes, approaches. Module 4: point of view and more on genre. We turn now to this rather simple story to help demonstrate and test what you know about reading short stories. Let us start by reviewing the genres that we have already discussed: prose (short fiction), poetry, and drama. When we look within each of these genres, we discover another set of genres, things of like kind, that help us interpret and understand the works in question. In the last text we looked at, we considered wilde"s play from the end of the victorian period. After the victorian period, we enter into the modern era (with a few minor moments in between, like the celtic twilight and the georgian period). The modernists recognized that the world had dramatically changed - as a direct result of a huge range of transformative inventions, such as electricity, mass transportation, skyscrapers, mass media, and more.
