Is there a difference between young people"s literature and children"s literature : disadvantage: its hard to put an age cap for each term. What are children: small adults (early modern) They shape our assumptions on what young people need or want. Illustrate: publish, make available, review and evaluate: children"s literature, as parents, teachers, librarians. What affects the development of texts for young people: demers points out that a great impulse behind the instruction of children was to instill the fundamentals of faith , and this impulse affected texts created for young people. Often what did you need to get by in your society, was known by the religion or religious group controlled the gov"t, and controlled what jobs you could get based on your religion. Ideas of what children: are or should be have changed (and continue to change) over time.
