Don"t mention the reader in any essay!! This particular rewrite is an exception to the rule it wasn"t tweaked, its completely different. The main plot nancy is invited to help one of her aunt"s detective friends. Elevator problem sets up that she"s a detective but she"s still a woman whose hopeless and needs help. The re-write wanted to make nancy more feminine she was too independent. Keeping the readers aware that this is a part of the series. Original stories you"re more familiar with the characters, more in depth description of her friends, but the rewrite they only get a few lines. They are very interchangeable in the new rewrite. Page 14 - her independence is undercut, in the original novel her father let her do whatever she wants but now he"s more controlling. Page 1 nancy points out that she"s 18, in earlier books she was 16 (fluctuates between 16 and 18 in different books)
