As an aristocrat he wants to enforce social order. Chaucer brought greco roman literature into the middle ages. There is not a lot of women in the tales. It"s a chivalrous tale like how knights are supposed to act. Lady fortuna explained why some people excel and others fail. He wanted to eliminate the amazons because they were a tribe of independent women. Women are not present in early british literature. When they are around they cause problems (look at hamlet)
