All remind us that we are part of the meaning making process. Hollywood recognizes need for thrills and spectacle, but needs a mass produced means of employing these. Reaction to world war 1, a war based on imperialism. Surrealism favours individual, free of social restraints or rules. Film structures are also social structures, relying on codes of narratives. What we see includes elements of film style and structure absolutes, we can all agree that they are present.
