Is a place of conflict of political tussle, of social relations stripped to their barest essentials". The street ideal versus reality: dangerous space, moral order. Dangerous others : moral panics, policing the streets, the physical presence=symbolic reassurance of order and control, use active surveillance to monitor behaviour, police intervened to establish order.
