Could be considered countries and reasons that were historically under chinese domain. Must remember that neighboring countries have their own religions, cultures, and traditions, but they were still largely influenced by the chinese. Japan became relevant economically first, then hong kong, taiwan, china and korea. One of the big economic power houses. After wwii, east asia went through a huge political change. South korea and taiwan also eventually establish democracies. Government control over all aspects of life. Also had some degree of political reform in china as well. In the recent 5 years, there has been clear political reversal in china, which sees them trying to go back to more utilitarian ways. A number of regional tensions in east asia, that poses a threat to the east. Both china and japan claimed an island.
