Mental health is one"s psychological and emotional condition. A clinically recognizable set of symptoms or behaviours associated in most cases with distress and with interference with personal functions (who definition) Behaviour or psychological syndrome or pattern that occurs in an individual. Consequences of which are clinically significant distress or disability. Must not be merely an expectable response to common stressors and loses or a culturally sanctioned response to a particular event. That is not solely a result of social deviance or conflicts with society. First, why do we differentiate between individual and population level: affects individuals, individuals manifest mental disorders, make assumptions that mental health is randomly distributed across population, people with harder lives more likely to manifest illness. Response categories: all of the time, most of the time, some of the time, a little of the time, none of the time. Individual level mental illness: clinician interviews to diagnose individuals.
