If communication is culture, then it means that we communicate differently than those who are around us. Interpersonal interaction becomes problematic because the means and rules of communication change. Discussion: after conversation is established, real topic can be addressed. Do unto others as they would have you do unto them. Valid reason (from a set repertoire) must be given for breaking off. Some sort of salutation indicates willingness to talk. Communication is effective to the extent that we are able to minimize misunderstanding. All interpersonal encounters involve some degree of uncertainty and anxiety. The greater the degree of difference between the interactants, the greater the degree of uncertainty and, consequently, anxiety. Exam- uncertainty-cognitive state characterised by a lack of knowledge and/or confusion. The extent to which a person lakcs the ability to understand and predict the intentions and behaviours of another. Ideal levels can provoke an attempt at understanding.
