Changes the buzzing sounds, gives it characteristic and recognition. Acoustic: what you are hearing, does it sound nice/pleasant. Want to know how well the vocal cords add up. We want to know if it sounds okay. Breathe support (can you get enough breath support to make a loud enough voice). Quality: how well the focal fords meet together (adduct).
