Less used with uncountable nouns (i. e less milk) Fewer used with countable nouns (i. e fewer accidents) Lay is used with an object which kinda means to put (i. e lay the child to rest/put the child to rest) Everyone is a singular noun and their is a plural pronoun so in order to make the antecedent agree with the pronoun, it should be his paired with everyone. Grammar is rule governed by rules created by speakers of the language that were written down by grammarians. Language is a collection of rules that need to be used so language is seen as correct. Does not dictate what is right or wrong. Looks at purpose of the language (interview, chat between friends, tweet you want to go viral)
