Usage-where: educated and socially prestigious members of community. Use in more domains: may require additional work in codification, develop high/low variety: extend vocabulary. All about attitude: variety viewed positively because it : unifies nations. All (most) or within nation use it: distinguishes nation. The nation has made own (not imposed) choice: hold status in the nation. Other languages are less important: has a standard variety. Language used habitually by people whose mother tongues different in order to. Practical purpose not an identity purpose.
