Language impairment is more severe than other cognitive limitations. Grammatical deficits are more severe than other language deficits like pragmatic deficit. Production deficits are more severe than comprehension deficits. 2 month delay in reduplicated babbling (8 months instead of 6) Early phonological processes persist into adulthood like final consonant deletion or weak syllable deletion. But first word is aligned with iq and mental age. Age 6 they have productive vocabs smaller than three year old child even though their mental age is 3 year olds. Use more gestures in place of words. Production and comprehension of grammar is poorer than expected for mental age. Follow same order of grammar morpheme milestones but take much longer to get through stages. Mlu may not extend beyond 3 at 12 year olds. More eye contact at 6 months than normal developing child. Less able to have secondary intersubjectivity leads to less joint attention. More interested to people and less interested in objects.
