Point to the picture of the donkey can have tests that measure all different language skills: picture pointing, acting out tasks. Give teddy"s toes a drink : preferential looking tasks. Child looks to screen that depicts description given. Age 18-24 months: children will do what they usually do. Probable location: what they are used to- will put cheerio in the bowl even if you tell them to put it under. Conventional use: will kick the ball even if you say kiss the ball : act on objects in the way mentioned. Child as agent: fills in the gaps- give the dolly some juice - may only understand juice but figure out what to do. Chooses handiest object as instrument- whichever is closer.
