Age is not the only factor involved in learning; as we get older, we learn in different ways. We just use different mechanisms to learn language as we get older. Answers to the questions come in the form of: biological explanations, social/psychological explanations, cognitive explanations. Fo(cid:396) adults, it(cid:859)s (cid:373)o(cid:396)e diffi(cid:272)ult to lea(cid:396)(cid:374) a(cid:374)(cid:455)thi(cid:374)g the olde(cid:396) (cid:455)ou get, (cid:374)ot just language. We concluded (singleton and ryan, 2004, p. 227) (cid:862)it is diffi(cid:272)ult not to infer that talking about an age factor may be misconceived, and that we should rather be thinking in terms of a range of age-(cid:396)elated fa(cid:272)to(cid:396)s.
