Behaviourist schools of thought derive from the work of ivan pavlov, who experiments at the turn of the 20th century with animals. Pavloc demonstrated classical conditioning in which a dog was trained to. Answers to the questions come in the form of: We concluded that its too difficult not to infer that talking about an age factor may be misconceived, and that we should rather be thinking in terms of a range of age related factors. Age related factors are only one element of a general model of l2 learning. Remember there is no strong empirical support for early l2 instruction in schools from research on the age factor in l2 acquisition in naturalistic settings. If there is no single age factor which accounts for degrees of success in sla, we need to look at other explanations. Some researchers see learning an l2 as similar to learning any other skill.
