Research is the sector, lab technician is the occupaion. How work is organized, how workers resist how is work distributed, performed. Many jobs with animals have always been precarious. In greater toronto area, 50% of jobs are precarious. Or: associaion or characterisics of the job is deemed feminine. When we say something is feminized it could be in either one or both ways. Ex/ nurses are feminized both numerically and by associaion but janitors are mostly men but feminized by associaion. Jobs are idily put in either female or male dominated. Groom (secretariat"s groom died of poverty, eddie sweat) Eddie sweat worked on the horses" body in work. Jockeys work on their own bodies to stay under weight limit (120 lbs) Ex/ vet whole occupaion is care work but part of a grooms" task is care work. Being drawn to an occupaion because of love" for animals. Have to deal with sick and even dying animals.
