Use him and his theories as an economic and social analysist but not as a political agitator. 3 different people will all have different definitions. May or may not relate to marx. Recognize importance of each and the relationship between the two. Different modes of production such as subsistence mode of production, socialist mode of production but we live in a capitalism mode of production. Not only about specifics of work, but how work is central to the organization of society. Ex/ work day is 9-5 everything organizes around this. Need income to buy things to survive. Two key things that make capitalism unique: production for profit. Some people own productive infrastructure (ex/ factory, machines, etc. ) They get the money left over as profit: wage labour. He also recognized other groups (petit bourgeoisie/small business owners)
