An exchange of ideas between sender and reciever. Sender has clear message, idea and checks if message is received and receiver comprehends message and provides feedback. We express messages through speech which includes speech sounds, voice and fluency and language which includes sentences, grammar, vocabulary, interaction skills. It is only a difference if it does not interfere with communication, and if where they are from it is the norm then it is just a difference and not a disorder. Impairment in comprehension and/or use of spoken, written and/or other symbol system. The disorder may involve form, content or function. Normative position says it is noticed by others and causes adaptive consequence. Neutralist says it is noticed by significant deficit on standardized assessments of language.
