Mellitus" possession says that everyone except socrates is in expert at positively influencing athens. Is it better to live in good company or bad company. Either socrates is not a bad person, or socrates harms no one intentionally. Mellitus is contradicting himself and hoping that no one, especially socrates will notice. He notes on one hand that socrates believes in false gods and in the supernatural, and on the other hand that socrates does not believe in god at all. No one should weigh their actions as though death is an evil to be feared - socrates. Socrates is following what he considers to be a divine commandment, and claims that he would not forsake his duty. God appointed socrates to the duty of leading the philosophical. Fearing death assumes that you actually know what death is like. Socrates claims that no one possesses such divine knowledge.
