KINE 2P09 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Homeostasis, Phospholipid, Membrane Potential
Document Summary
Physiology = the study of the mechanism responsible to cope or deal with changes to try and establish homeostasis. Physiology is the integration of physical and chemical events. Everything happens for a reason, and theres going to be something that causes a change. Very broad: inside cell > whole body. levels of organization. Chemical we are a society of cells. Simplest structural unit of complex organisms is a single cell. Certain functions that are common to all cells. For a cell to live it has to be able to exchange materials with the environment. Why cells can do this is based on different properties in the membranes or the presence of different proteins to encourage these things. Variety of different cell types that are very unique that have their own function. Muscle cells, they can contract using force, the more force you make it produce the stronger it gets. they are highly adaptable.
