Document Summary

October 2, 2015: behaviour change is not a single event/point in time. Processes leading to steps critical (the how: not just the outcome, people must be ready to make the change, otherwise it won"t happen. Most critical element and everything else depends on this/which stage a person is in. Behaviour change occurs over course of 5 stages: stages are stable and dynamic. Stable because once somebody is in a specific stage, they can stay there for the rest of their life without motivation. Dynamic because people can move through all the stages if changes occur. Can move forward and regress through stages not linear. Looked into some gyms, talked to friends for support: action, actively engaging in new behaviour less than 6 months, maintenance, change has been sustained for over 6 months. Is defined as a stage where they don"t have to worry about reverting back to old behaviour.
