Kine 2p06 dance lecture 4 - observation and analysis. Observation is a concept and a process involving interpretation and decision making. Observation is seeing with understanding, it involves being a sympathetic participant. Observation is the active process of seeking and exploring environmental information necessary for the completion of the task on hand. Observation and response are utilized in reflective processes. All works of art provide feelings of pleasure/displeasure. Liking something and judging it are different concepts. The philosophy that all knowledge is limited to self-experiences. Did you like it? vs. what did you see in the dance? . Need to correlated feeling-based responses with visible aspects under review. Somatics: holistic conception of the body, soma dynamic living body that exists in day and time, study of the body in first person. Spatial-perceptual listening: increase capacity for receiving and responding to sensory information (olsen, 1998) Eco-somatic listening: moving beyond the individual and crosses social-cultural boundaries.
