(cid:859: we can connect nonprofit social services to what we discussed last week. As i noted, there are parallels between social reproduction and public sector work. Both social reproduction and public sector work often involve caring labour. What is caring labour: caring labour is providing services to people to fulfill their needs and to develop their capacities for a more fulfilling life. An important aspect of caring labour is that it is often internally motivated. In other words, the immediate goal of the person providing the service is the fulfillment of needs. Financial compensation, while it can be quite important, is often a secondary consideration. This is why there are parallels between social reproduction, public sector work in general, and nonprofit social service work in particular.
