Document Summary
A method of study that can be either reactive or non-reactive, and involves the researcher immersing themselves in the world of those that they are studying. The study of ordinary events in their natural setting (i. e. no in a laboratory) This allows us to study social groups and different perspectives. These are two of the most important skills that a researcher must use in field research. Use all of your senses to take in the field you are studying. What do you see, hear, smell, taste, feel, etc. Make note of physical surroundings as well as people. Listen to what is said as well as how things are said. The place, time, history, interrelations are all important. Things happen for a reason, this must be understood. Can better understand event x if you can look at the before and after math. We don"t have the luxury of quantity, so every detail of what we do have is important.
