Traditionally, humans have had a greater preoccupation with negative events than positive ones. Psychologists have historically focussed to a much greater extent on negative behaviours and con ict. The late 1990"s saw the rise of positive psychology, whose advocates suggest that we need to pay much greater attention to positive events and behaviour. Morally (moral behaviour, moral development ; personal values) Positive emotion (including its impact on thinking and behaviour) Forgiveness (how we nd our way back to making peace with others) Caregiving (caring throughout the stages of life) Building peaceful relations between groups (studying prejudice and interaction between members of a group) Empathy is also a construct that falls under the umbrella of positive psychology. Its a multicultural construct, meaning it has many dimensions. Something you can measure on a scale, from low to high. Empathetic concern - experience of feeling as another person does.
