Science of human development : seeks to understand how and why people of all ages and circumstances change or remain the same over time. Cohort effects : the time of your birth has an immense impact on development. A new stage - emerging adulthood (cohort effect) Stage where adults are not married, don"t have children and are exploring. Ses can be high (well off) and low (poverty). Females still are not viewed or valued on the same level as men. Actions, values and roles are based on gender. Nurture : heavy emphasis on being shaped by your environment. Nature : heavy emphasis on being shaped by your genes. Whatever your path is as you grow is because of the people teaching you and their in uence. Behaviour that is not reinforced will be extinguished. If you feel con dent doing something, you are more willing to participate. (social learning theory video)
