Animals put on a cage with a mirror, they were then anesthetized and marked with a red dot. Some animals (chimpanzee"s, orangutans) touch the red spot in their eyebrows proving they do have a self concept. Three aspects to the self: self knowledge, self-control, self esteem. Self-schemas believes about the self , they help organize, guide and process relevant information. Showed how our schemas can be biased. Study conducted found that our desired to see ourselves in a positive light can affect what past behaviours we remember. Some participants told that research has shown that introversion is associated with success, other were told extraversion was associated with success. All participants then asked to list behaviour they had perform that was relevant to extroversion/introversion. Those who had been told introversion was associated with success, listed more introvert behaviour. Found that people cultural identity clarity was positively related to self concept clarity, and self esteem.
