PSYC 2P36 Lecture Notes - Lecture 15: Lamellar Corpuscle, Hair Follicle, Subcutaneous Tissue
Document Summary
Lecture 15: non visual systems: somatosensation (body senses) Mechanincal sense respond to pressure, bending, or other distorions of a receptor. We find these tissues in the skin- subcutaneous tissue, dermis, epidermis little area on the skin you get a small response. There are differences, there is more sensitivity on tips of fingers then on palm of hand. You feel large range sensations detected ruffini corposucles. No matter the area of sensation it is all same information. Through hair follicle receptors at base of hairs responds to change in status. Can only adapt if there is change in status with continuous sensation. Example: putting a sock on your foot you can feel the differentiate as it goes up your leg, but once its on very soon after it is out of consciousness. We can sense whether something is hot or cold. We detect through thermoreceptors that sit in the skin. C fibres from a temperature to a higher temperature.
