Temperament is similar to personality and has its roots in its genetic factors. It is what parents notice, without evidence of particular genes the child actually has. Certain parenting is needed appropriately for certain temperaments. Temperament: genetically-based individuals differences in reactivity and self-regulation. Individuals differ in intensity, threshold and duration or responses t stimuli (novelty, danger, punishment) Not fixed and permanent; it can change with experience. Research is trying to discover if a parent can really fix temperament and environment. You are not born with temperament traits, you can change them. You are more likely to listen strictly to your parents so you do not get into trouble as you listen to instructions better, you want to comply to get good not bas results or consequences. I get frightened with someone who drives too fast . Amygdala is a key brain structure underlying fear.
