Organ of success is measured by how many kids you have and how many kids they have but first you have to live long enough to reach sexual maturity to be able to have kids. The human brain sets us apart from all other animals. We can live in harsh climates, we live in a society. Processes by which knowledge is acquired or manipulated. Early thinking is qualitatively different than adult like thinking. Object permanence: idea that objects exist even when we cannot sense them. Function: firing of neuron, contraction of muscle, use of a strategy (action associated with that structure) Increasing intentional control: cognitive development is the result of transaction between internal and external factors (everything on the outside/your environment)
