Prevention programs in schools (usually a primary or secondary approach) Knowledge-attitudes-behavior model - typically involve presentation by police of cers or past users (expert), very traditional scare tactics and other pharmacological information. Affective education - focuses on emotions and attitudes which may underly some of the reasons for drug taking, students may take particular drugs to achieve a particular goal (tries to get at the reason for drug use) Anti-drug norms - teaching student refusal skills and pressure resistant strategies (i. e. us pledge system to remain drug free) Dare - drug abuse resistance education, 1983 in la, spread through the states rapidly, quickly and widely implemented, but really no studies supporting it"s effectiveness. Delivered through trained police of cers, resistance model, team leader model, self-esteem and decision making and alternatives to drug us. Not having a lot of data or info about success outcome.
